The Primary Curriculum is organised into Stages:

Early Stage 1 Kindergarten
Stage 1 Year 1 and Year 2
Stage 2 Year 3 and Year 4
Stage 3 Year 5 and Year 6

Most students will be working towards the outcomes for their Stage. Some students will be working towards outcomes that are above or below their Stage.

The delivery of quality learning and teaching at St John’s is our core objective and is pursued in a multitude of ways both within and beyond the formal curriculum.

Quality education is centred on meeting the needs of all students, a key objective for all class teachers. Teachers plan and assess in order to meet those needs by designing learning experiences that are relevant and purposeful and that lead to learning gain, regardless of level of achievement or competency.

A more open and negotiable manner of teaching and assessment has allowed teachers to achieve more accurately the learning of individual students. Our classroom buildings and facilities complement our pedagogical thinking and style of learning generated in all Stages K-6 but in particular for our Infants and Stage 3 classes who co-exist in large flexible learning environments designed for their grade, offering greater flexibility, collaborative teacher planning and implementation as well as more effective independent and interdependent student learning.
