hi5St John’s has 4 School Rules that are easy to recall but that encompass the important areas that ‘umbrella’ the many aspects of school life.

  • BE RESPECTFUL
  • BE RESPONSIBLE
  • BE SAFE
  • BE ORGANISED

THE HIGH FIVE STRATEGY

The children are aware of the High Five Strategy that needs to be adopted when they are confronted by situations at school where another student is teasing or bothering them inappropriately either in class or on the playground.

We ask the student to:

1.  Speak firmly
2.  Say ‘STOP’
3.  Say ‘I don’t like what you are doing or saying’
4.  Walk away from the situation
5.  If the situation continues, tell an adult and ask for their help

St John’s has a NO BODY CONTACT rule and students should address any problem verbally, in a respectful manner. No physical contact is appropriate.

The students are also aware of their responsibility to stop what they are doing should a student feel the need to implement the High Five Strategy.
